Creating MMS Online Generations Accounts

How do I create a MMS Online Generations Account?
This article applies to both MMS Online as well as Self Hosted instances.

  1. Log into MMS Generations.

  2. Select Admin> User Accounts from the top menu.

  1. Click the Add User/Template button.

  1. Enter your User or Template Name in the field (Displayed in orange).

  1. Please note: This name must be the same as the RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) or Server account requested in step 24.

  1. Click the OK Button.

Please note: The username cannot contain spaces, and can only contain letters, digits (1-9) or a period. If you use characters outside of the requirements, the system will notify you with the above error.

  1. Add a Password to the Password Field.

  2. Switch Turn Web-Link On to run web jobs by default to No.

  3. Click the button next to the MMS Work Folder Path Field to create a new work folder for this user.

In the popup that follows, the work folder will be selected by default (Displayed in Orange).

  1.  Click the Make New Folder button.

  1.  Name the folder the same name as the username displayed in step 5.

  2.  Click anywhere in the white space (Displayed in Green), to set the    folder name.

  3.  Click the OK button.

  1. Click the DB Access Tab.

  2. Click the Page + button.

  3. Click the button.

Please note the button will not be available if step 16 is not performed.

  1. Click the Load SQL Database button.

  2.  Click the down arrow to select a database.

  3.  Click the OK Button.

  1. Click the checkbox under Open by Default.

  2.  Click the down arrow under School Code to select a school.

  1. Checking the checkbox for Default School will automatically display the selected school when the user logs in.

  1.  Click the OK button.

  2.  For MMS Online schools, email the username and password combination to requesting a new RDP user be created.

  1. On the Portals Tab, Has read only access to Teacher Grade Book grants access to a staff portal user to see the teacher grade book. The menu option will not display in the portal, unless this is set to yes (Displayed in Yellow).

  2. Can view student records through the Staff Portal enables staff portal access for the user (Displayed in Orange).

  1. Enable/Disable Menus (Displayed in Green) is where admin rights are granted for the admin choice from the MMS Generations top menu as well as all its sub list items.

  1. A work folder must be present in order to et menu items when editing existing users (see steps 10-14). If the default work folder is in use, the Enable/Disable menu options will be locked for editing.

  2. If you clear the work folder, clicking Enable/Disable: Menus button will fill in default work folder when exited.
