This article will assist you in configuring Course Registration for use in the Family Portal. Most commonly, this is for the upcoming school year.
Prior To Implementation

Be a Vision SIS client.
 
Have staff level access.

Using School Year Maintenance, roll the current school year to create the new school year (registration year).

The Course Registration year should have students, the course catalog, departments, and potentially one Graduation Requirements Report saved setting, for the registration school year.

  • Use the menu and go to School Configuration > Configuration Jobs > Course Registration  or use the search function found in the My Dashboard area.

  • Make sure you are in the correct school, such as the High School.

  • Make sure you are in the current school year.

  • Select Which school year will students be registering for? A grid will show with each Year of Graduation (YOG) having students in that year. Independent settings will be saved for each YOG

  • To edit, click the pencil of one YOG.

  • Enter the Starting date and Ending date that the Course Registration will be open for this YOG. Each YOG can be open on different dates, overlap, or all open at the same time.

  • Set Minimum # of Credits and Maximum # of Credits that students must select. No limit is set if left at 0.0000.

  • Indicate whether Student Signature Line and/or Parent Signature Line should be included when they Print Summary of Selected Courses from the Course Registration area of the Parent Portal or Student Portal.

  • If Graduation Requirements Report is made Available, then choose the Graduation Requirements Report Setting from the dropdown list.

  • Click Save and a confirmation message appears. Click OK to return to the YOG grid.

  • Repeat for each YOG.

  • Page Layouts tab.

  • Select Which school year will students be registering for? Yes, you have to select it again for the Page Layouts. A grid will show each Year of Graduation (YOG) having students in that year. Independent settings will be saved for each YOG.

  • To edit, click the pencil of one YOG.

  • Enter a Note for the Course Registration page that will show above course selection list. This note can include due dates for the course registration, instructions on how to enter course requests, among other things.

  • Enter a Note for the Graduation Requirements Report page that will show on the Graduation Requirements Report page.

  • Both notes can be formatted from fonts to bullets.

  • Both notes have Words and Characters counts.

  • Both notes can provide links to other documents available on your school web site using the “Hyperlink Manager”.

  • Both notes have Design and HTML views with a preview option.

  • Click Save and a confirmation message appears. Click OK to return to the YOG grid.

  • Repeat for each YOG.
