The following article is designed to walk the user through viewing the Pennsylvania Early Warning System (EWS) Automated Export Agent Log Files.

Prior To Implementation

Install the most current version of the Pennsylvania PIMS/EWS.

Resolution
  1. Pennsylvania PIMS Operations > View Automated Export Log Files.

  1. Select Submission Log as the Select the type of export file to view.
  • Click View.

  • The Submission Log shows the Web Service data transmission to the Pennsylvania PDE and the status of that transmission.
  • A “200” status code indicates the upload was successful. The files still need to pass validation.
  • It could also show if there was a problem with one of the Web Service tab fields.
  • The SubmissionLog.TXT file is saved in the MMS Generations program folder.
  • Click Exit.
  1. Select Error Log as the Select the type of export file to view.
  • Click View.

  • The Error Log shows records that are not included in the export file and why.
  • The report includes which export had errors and for which school.
  • It then lists the identifying record and what the problem is.
  • If there are no errors, you get the one line log below.

  • Click Exit.
  1. Select Processing Summary Log as the Select the type of export file to view.
  • Select file to view by clicking the Select a file and path User-added image   button.
  • Select the most recent PAExport_mmddyyS.TXT file to view.
  • The file naming convention ends with month day year and the sequence letter with A being the first of the day, B the second and so on.
  • Click OK.
  • Click View.

  • The Processing Summary Log shows the date/time stamp of each step of the Automated Export Agent.
  • It shows which database, school and year it is exporting data from.
  • Then has each school’s Excel export file, with how many records and the location of the EWS Detail exchange folder.
  • Then shows each district Submission file and the location in the EWS Submission folder.
  • Click Exit.
  1. You can Print any of the logs, rather than viewing them.
  • You can change the Output Option to export to an Excel file or a PDF.
  • This gives you a report you can reference to help clean up your data.
