The following article is designed to walk the user through the basic steps involved with installing the MMS Generations Pennsylvania Early Warning System (EWS) to use Web Services for data extraction and upload to the dashboard.

Prior To Implementation

None.

Resolution
  1. Download the current version of the Pennsylvania PIMS.

    1. Log into www.cri-mms.com with your client number.

    2. Go to Downloads & Updates.

    3. Click on Pennsylvania PIMS.

    4. Click software Download and save the file pasetup.exe.

    5. Click documentation View/Download and save the file pa-documentation.pdf.

  2. Install the Pennsylvania PIMS software.

    1. Double-click the software download file pasetup.exe.

    2. Accept the default path for this file extraction C:\Program Files (x86)\MMSGE or browse to where you installed MMS Generations.

    3. This will create the EWS automated set up files in the top level MMSGE folder.

  3. Install the MMS Dashboard Submission software.

    1. Browse to the MMSGE folder

    2. Run MMSDashboardSubmissionSetup.exe

    3. Accept the default path for this file extraction C:\Program Files (x86)\MMSGE or browse to where you installed MMS Generations.

    4. This installs two files that control the data creation and submission files.

    5. If needed, remove these two files and repair the install to get the most recent versions.

      1. PA_Export.exe does all the data processing and creates the .xls and .csv files. It can be run at any time to create the files without uploading to the EWS.

      2. MMSDashboardSubmission.exe runs PA_Export.exe and then creates a .zip file of the .csv files and uploads it to the state’s web service.

  4. Schedule the automated submission of the EWS files.

    1. Use Windows Task Scheduler to schedule only the MMSDashboardSubmission.exe, as it will run PA_Export.exe.

    2. Set it to run once a day or as often as you need.

    3. The optional Start In path, if entered, must contain the path to the MMSGE folder so it can access the EWS configuration files.

    4. Set it to run whether the user is logged in or not.

    5. Set the scheduled task to run on demand.

    6. Save it.

  5. Data preparation.

    1. Log into MMS Generations.

    2. Run Pennsylvania EDR Operations > Update Database Structure to make sure the required fields are added into the district database.

    3. Refer to the Getting Started with the PA EWS Dashboard Data Preparation Knowledge Based Article.

  6. If needed, set up the PA EWS Export for Staging.

    1. Refer to the How To Configure the PA EWS Automated Export Agent Knowledge Based Article.

    2. Contact EWS staff (Maithili Desai c-mdesai@pa.gov) to build your dashboard for staging.
