Configure Family Portal Reports

Summary2Use this document to learn where to go in Vision SIS and Generations to set up the Family Portal reports.
Prior to Implementation

 Be a Vision SIS Client.
 
Requires administrative/staff level access to Vision SIS.

Resolution

 There are three reports available on the Family Portal website: transcripts, report cards, and progress reports. This document outlines where you must configure each report.
 
Transcripts

  1. Transcripts are set up and the configuration for Family Portal are set up in Vision SIS.

  2. Click HERE to access a Knowledge Based article about how to navigate Vision, set favorites, and find help.

  3. Use the menu and go to Grades > Reports > Permanent Transcripts or use the search function found in the My Dashboard area (pictured below). In the Search menu items area, enter transcripts. Select Permanent Transcript from the search results. Click GO.

  1. Click HERE to access a Knowledge Based article about configuring permanent transcripts.

  2. Refer to steps 47 and 53 to save the settings of transcripts and to use a saved setting to configure transcripts for the Family Portal.

 
Report Cards
The Family Portal uses the report card operation in Vision SIS.

  1. Click HERE to access a Knowledge Based article about how to navigate Vision, set favorites, and find help.

  2. Go to Grades > Reports > Report Cards or use the search function found in the My Dashboard area (pictured below). In the Search menu items area, enter report cards. Select Report Cards from the search results. Click GO.

  1. Click HERE to access an article about how to set up report cards in Vision SIS.

  2. Generally, schools have a setting saved for each marking period’s report card. Have a setting saved for the Family Portal.

  3. In Vision SIS, go to School Configuration > Configuration Jobs > Grade Reporting.
  4. Set the School Code and School Year.

  1. Report Card Display Settings. Click the drop-down list and select the report card setting to use. Save Configuration.

  2. In Vision SIS, go to School Configuration > Configuration Jobs > Configure Family Portal Permission Settings. Check the box for the appropriate school(s) in the Show Student Report Cards column. Save Changes.

Skills Report Cards
Skills Report cards are a Microsoft Word-based document that are unique to a school. Go to Grades > Operations > Assign Report Card Project to assign a Skills Report Card to students.
 
The Family Portal uses the skills report cards generated in Vision SIS.

  1. Click HERE to access a Knowledge Based article about how to navigate Vision, set favorites, and find help.

  2. Go to Grades > Reports > Skills Report Cards - By Group or use the search function found in the My Dashboard area (pictured below). In the Search menu items area, enter report cards. Select Skills Report Cards - By Group from the search results. Click GO.

  1. Select the report card project. Check the option Export Report Cards for Vision Family Portal. When report cards are printed using this option, a PDF copy for each student is generated and made available in Family Portal.

  2. Click Print. An alert window opens. Click OK.

  3. In Vision SIS, go to School Configuration > Configuration Jobs > Configure Family Portal Permission Settings. Check the box for the appropriate school(s) in the Show Skills Report Cards column. Save Changes.

  4. Report cards are now available to the Family Portal website.

  5. Steps 3 and 4 will have to be repeated for each new marking period report card.

 
Progress Reports

  1. A few settings for progress reports for the Family Portal must be set in Vision.

  2. Click HERE to access a Knowledge-Based article about how to navigate Vision, set favorites, and find help.

  3. Use the menu and go to School Configuration > Configuration Jobs > Configure MMS Grade Book or use the search function found in the My Dashboard area (pictured below). In the Search menu items area, enter mms grade book. Select Configure MMS Grade Book from the search results. Click GO.

  4. Scroll down to view the For Parent and Student Portals area. The following options are available: including the teacher term note, including standards marking period averages, and including standards assignment scores. The last two options only apply to schools that implement Skills, Standards, or Competencies.
